Job Summary
Assist the child care program director in ensuring a positive and enriching experience for all children by providing proper supervision, discipline, and acting as a role model. Implement lesson plans based on child development principles, maintain a clean classroom, and keep records up to date while ensuring compliance with YMCA standards and government regulations. Facilitate enrollment and onboarding for new children and parents, maintaining daily communication to build strong rapport. Work 25-30 hours per week, Monday through Friday, at one of twelve childcare locations across Erie, PA, and surrounding areas.
Required Qualifications
- At least 18 years of age
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Currently enrolled in Secondary Education or 2500 hours of documented experience (i.e. Babysitting, Etc)
- Ability to pass a background check
- Ability to pass a physical
- Negative TB test
- Must enroll in a CDA (child development associate) training program within the first year of employment if not already attending or having completed secondary education)

- Have a basic understanding of child development and teaching strategies
- Are patient and able to remain calm when stressed
- Do enjoy reading and singing with children
