Job Summary
Provide direct support to the assigned special needs student during classroom activities, transitions, and routines. Assist with personal care needs including toileting and hygiene while monitoring safety to prevent elopement. Implement strategies and accommodations directed by the teacher and support team to foster an inclusive environment. Communicate effectively with staff and parents regarding the student's progress. Obtain required fingerprint and criminal history background clearance prior to employment in the district. Applications are accepted online only until the position is filled.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Ability to assist with personal care tasks in a professional and compassionate manner
- Strong communication skills
- Patience
- Ability to remain alert and responsive to ensure student safety
- Ability to lift and assist with mobility as needed
- Ability to respond quickly in situations where the student may attempt to leave the supervised area
- Clearance for employment from the State Education Department prior to employment based upon a fingerprint and criminal history background check
Desired Qualifications
- Additional training in special education
- Experience working with children with special needs
