Job Summary
Teacher Aide in Head Start provides direct care to children in a group setting under the Lead Teacher, assists in daily classroom instruction, completes developmental screenings, uses assessment tools, and helps write weekly lesson plans. Responsibilities include ensuring health, safety, sanitation, and nutrition in compliance with licensing, supporting children with IEP/IFSP goals, maintaining appropriate teacher-child ratios, participating in staff trainings and multidisciplinary teams, and transporting children as needed. Skills include collaboration with colleagues, bilingual communication (English/Spanish preferred), familiarity with NAEYC/COA standards, ability to document progress, and commitment to confidentiality and licensing requirements.
Required Qualifications
- Child Development Associate (CDA) credential or 12 credit hours in Early Childhood Education with enrollment and proof of attendance in a CDA program required.
- Minimum of one year of professional experience working with young children in a child-care setting required.
- Certifications in Infant/Child CPR, First Aid and Caring for the Mildly Ill Child preferred.
