Job Summary
Support children in assigned classrooms by ensuring adequate supervision, maintaining a safe and healthy environment, and following all classroom procedures. Facilitate active learning through verbal encouragement, open-ended questioning, and behavioral redirection while assisting staff with lesson plans and individualization tasks. Provide clear expectations, maintain confidentiality, and promote teamwork by taking initiative and demonstrating adaptability. Schedule is generally 20-25 hours per week depending on program assignment.
Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- Minimum of one year of paid or volunteer experience in working with young children
- Knowledgeable about child growth and development
- Needs of children
- Ability to communicate with children
- Ability to communicate with adults
- Participation in agency training events
- Pass state DHS fingerprinting process
- Pre-employment drug screen
- Lifting (over 50 pounds in emergency situations)
- Stooping
- Sitting in child size furniture
- Ability to hear conversations
- Vision adequate to supervise young children
- Use a ipad & computer
- Reliable transportation
- Pass a drug test
- Pass a back ground screening
Desired Qualifications
- CDA credential
- ECE coursework
- CDA or higher education
- Bus driver status
- Computer skills
- Spanish training
