Job Summary
Provide a well-planned, developmentally appropriate curriculum for children in assigned classrooms while ensuring adequate supervision and maintaining a safe, healthy environment. Support teaching staff by implementing lesson plans, facilitating student exploration through verbal and nonverbal encouragement, and redirecting misbehavior using clear behavioral expectations. Maintain a clean, organized classroom following specific procedures and uphold confidentiality regarding children, families, and staff. Act as an assistant teacher if approved training plans are met, participate in required agency training events, and complete other assignments as directed by the center team leader.
Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- Minimum of one year of paid or volunteer experience in working with young children
- Knowledgeable about child growth and development and the needs of children
- Ability to communicate with children and adults
- Ability to engage children in a well-run and orderly classroom in a safe, literacy rich and nurturing environment
- CDA credentials
- ECE coursework
- Bus driver status
- Computer skills
- Spanish training
- Participation in agency training events
- Pass state DHS fingerprinting process
- Pre-employment drug screen
- Lifting (over 50 pounds in emergency situations)
- Stooping
- Sitting in child size furniture
- Ability to hear conversations
- Vision adequate to supervise young children
- Must be able to use a ipad & computer
- Reliable transportation
- Must be able to pass a drug test & a back ground screening
Desired Qualifications
- Minimum of one year of paid or volunteer experience in working with young children preferred
- Demonstrate knowledge, skills and abilities as follows: knowledgeable about child growth and development and the needs of children and the ability to communicate with children and adults
- CDA or higher education
- Teacher assistant position
