Job Summary
Provide assistance in assigned classrooms to gather materials, follow consistent schedules for small and large group experiences, and maintain a developmentally appropriate and safe environment. Support an atmosphere that promotes parental involvement, work with children in a supportive and positive manner, and provide supervision for small group activities. Perform classroom and center cleaning tasks as needed, attend program meetings, and complete all responsibilities in compliance with confidentiality policies. Maintain written and computerized educational record keeping systems accurately while demonstrating commitment to mission and values. Positions are 40 hours per week Monday through Friday in Sweet Home, Albany, Corvallis, Philomath, Linn, and Benton counties. A competitive wage of $18.01 per hour is offered with a 6% increase available for bilingual skills, alongside medical, dental, vision, and retirement benefits.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED
- Ability to maintain written and computerized educational record keeping systems in an organized and accurate manner
- First Aid/CPR and Food Handler's cards
- Enrollment in Child Care Division Central Background Registry
- Completion of Employee Health Appraisal
- Significant repetitive bending, twisting, stooping, kneeling, and reaching
- Ability to rapidly survey environment and move quickly in order to respond to children to ensure their safety or the safety of other children
- Frequent kneeling, bending, and sitting on the floor as needed to attend to child's needs
- Occasionally lift up to 50 pounds in classroom setting and assisting children into seats on the bus (if bussing is provided at the center you are assigned)
- Ability to respond appropriately (both mentally and physically) to an emergency or a crisis; ability to self-regulate own emotions and assist children with self-regulation
Desired Qualifications
- Experience with children in target age group (0-3 and 3-5)
- Sensitivity to individual and group needs or adults and children in target area; knowledge of child development and family dynamics
- Experience assisting in the development and implementation of classroom plans
- Excellent communication and problem solving skills
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with parents, staff and public
