Job Summary
Supervise and monitor children at all times while establishing a safe, stimulating learning environment. Greet families upon arrival, escort children to and from the bus, and conduct parent conferences for all students. Direct classroom activities by working with the education team to develop instructional plans and guide teachers, volunteers, and parents. Maintain accurate records, reports, and data, and participate in mealtime activities including serving and cleanup. Provide emotional support, model positive work ethic, and use positive reinforcement to manage behavior. Complete mandatory trainings and pass a physical examination.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in early childhood education
- Two (2) years of teaching experience
- Associate's degree in early childhood education
- Three (3) years of teaching experience working with preschool age children
- Access to transportation and ability to visit sites throughout Erie County
- Passion for working with children to create a positive learning environment
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills
- Flexibility and ability to adjust to changing circumstances
- Ability to use positive reinforcement and redirection techniques to manage classroom behavior
- Ability to provide emotional support and foster a positive, supportive environment
- Ability to work well with others
- Ability to maintain confidentiality
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite
- Active listening, writing, and verbal communication skills
- Ability to perform moderate to vigorous activity with children
- Ability to tolerate moderate to loud noise
- Ability to bend, stoop, kneel, and sit on the floor
- Ability to lift/move up to 25 pounds
- Completion of the CAO Employment application
- NYS SCR Clearance Form with acceptable clearance
- Criminal Record Certification and free of criminal convictions of crimes against children (misdemeanor or felony)
- Fingerprinting
- Release for Reference Checks
- Must pass a physical examination by a CAO physician at no cost to applicant
