Job Summary
TEACHER – 8TH GRADE ENGLISH LANGUAGE ARTS/SOCIAL STUDIES: Teaches district-approved curriculum and meets/instructs assigned classes at designated times; plans programs of study using diverse instructional techniques and media to address students' needs and abilities; creates a classroom environment conducive to learning; protects students, equipment, and facilities; assists administration with policies; guides behavior standards and communicates objectives for lessons and units; assists in diagnosing learning disabilities with district specialists; evaluates student progress and maintains accurate records; available to students/parents outside instructional hours; requires a four-year degree, major in the taught subject, Praxis II passing score, and NC teaching license/certificate; salary structured under state schedule with local supplement; essential duties may be expanded with additional responsibilities.
Required Qualifications
- Four year degree from a college or university
- Major, or 24 semester hours, in subject area to be taught
- Passing score on Praxis II Test in subject area to be taught
- Valid N.C. teaching license/certificate, or be able to obtain such
