Job Summary
Provides special education consultation and instruction to meet the needs of eligible students with disabilities within the Life Skills program. Develops and implements individual education programs (IEPs) and attends ARD/IEP meetings; collaborates with campus staff, district specialists, and parents/guardians; maintains student data and reports progress. Performs non-medical procedures as identified in IEPs, ensures documentation for program participation, and administers state assessments. Leads and supervises paraprofessionals, coordinates with related services (OT/PT/VI/AT) to ensure appropriate education, and implements behavior management techniques and LIFE Skills elements. May provide care related to hygiene, toileting, and nourishment; potential leadership opportunities such as supervising teacher aides and student teachers. Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in related field
- Valid Texas certificate in appropriate area; ESL certification required
- Ability to work effectively between the school and community
- Effective written & verbal communication skills
- CPI certification once employed
