Job Summary
Grade 5 Mathematics Teacher responsible for delivering standards-aligned elementary math instruction, fostering conceptual understanding and procedural fluency, and supporting real-world problem solving. Collaborates with colleagues to design engaging learning experiences, uses data to inform instruction, and differentiates instruction to meet diverse learners. Integrates arts integration, project-based learning, social-emotional learning, and STEAM concepts. Applies restorative practices to build a positive classroom community and communicates effectively with families and support staff to promote student achievement. Emphasizes rigorous instruction, mathematical discourse, and the use of formative assessment to accelerate student growth, with a commitment to educating the whole child. Endorsed by Connecticut State Certification 305 or equivalent CT certification; CT-based eligibility preferred.
Required Qualifications
- Connecticut State Certification 305 (Elementary Education) or other appropriate Connecticut certification required
- strong instructional practices
- excellent classroom management skills
- commitment to student achievement
- experience teaching upper elementary mathematics and supporting diverse learners preferred
- knowledge of standards-based instruction, mathematical discourse, and data-driven decision-making highly desirable
