Job Summary
Provide 5th grade ELAR/SS instruction in a bilingual program in Houston, TX. Develop and implement engaging lesson plans aligned with district curriculum; differentiate instruction to meet diverse learners; present subject matter per Texas Education Agency guidelines; collaborate with staff to plan instructional goals; design learning experiences incorporating digital tools; assist in selecting books and materials; monitor student growth through assessments and use results to adapt instruction; supervise extracurricular activities as assigned; maintain effective communication with parents and community; participate in professional development and comply with district policies; use interactive tech (board, computer, projector, etc.) to support teaching; supervise instructional paraprofessionals and volunteers.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree from accredited university
- Valid Texas teaching certificate with required endorsements for subject and level assigned
- ESL certification preferred for K-5 ELA, Reading, Math, Science, Social Studies and Special Education teaching assignments
- Ability to instruct students and manage their behavior
- Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills
- Student teaching or approved internship
- Physically able to monitor student discipline and progress and to meet other student needs as required
- Physically able to move about the room to perform formative assessments and facilitate small and large group instruction
