Job Summary
Direct instruction in a full-time Deaf and Hard of Hearing classroom at East Pennsboro Elementary School with case management for 6-10 students; provide core academic instruction and support for mainstreamed students; collaborate on IEP planning, data collection, progress monitoring, and FERPA/HIPAA-compliant record keeping; plan and direct activities of paraprofessionals; maintain schedules and coordinate with CAIU and school districts for evaluations, meetings, and inclusion opportunities; use CAIU-approved curricula and positive behavior supports to meet student needs; stay current on instructional theory and techniques; participate in staff meetings and complete off-site experiences and program-related tasks as assigned; requires PA instructional certification, Bachelor's degree, Safe Crisis Management/Safety Care certification, and strong communication and interpersonal skills.
Required Qualifications
- Valid, active PA Instructional I or II certification in Special Education, Early Childhood, Elementary Education, Blind/Visual Impairments, Academic Core Instructional Certifications, or Deaf and Hard of Hearing; must hold PA Highly Qualified Teacher (HQT) status for assignment
- Bachelor's Degree in Early Childhood Education, Special Education, Elementary Education, or Core Subject Education
- Full certification in Safe Crisis Management (SCM) or Safety Care to participate in restraints
- Strong verbal and written language skills
- Familiarity with Special Education rules and regulations
- Ability to build rapport with diverse stakeholders
- Proficient computer skills: Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.
