Job Summary
Provide special education students with learning activities and experiences designed to help them fulfill their potential for intellectual, emotional, physical, and social growth. Develop or modify curricula and prepare lessons and other instructional materials to match student ability levels. Work in self-contained, team, departmental, or itinerant capacity as assigned. Collaborate with students, parents, and other staff to develop IEPs, implement instructional/therapeutic programs, assess student learning styles, and employ varied instructional techniques and media to meet needs. Maintain attendance and participate in IEP committee meetings, staff development, and classroom management. Requires Bachelor’s degree and Texas teaching certificate with special education endorsements. Probationary/Term Contract: 187 days; includes a $2,000 stipend and Pay Grade T60.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree from accredited university
- Valid Texas teaching certificate that matches the content area and grade level of the assignment
- Valid Texas teaching certificate with required special education endorsements for assignments
