Job Summary
Special Education Teacher at Cook Middle School in Houston, TX for 2026-2027. Provide instructional planning and delivery for students with special needs, develop or modify curricula, and prepare lessons aligned to IEP goals. Collaborate with students, parents, and staff to create and implement instructional strategies, manage classrooms, participate in IEP committee meetings, and oversee assessment and documentation of student progress. Responsibilities include planning, implementing, and modifying instructional programs, using technology to meet diverse learner needs, coordinating with teachers and aides, and maintaining records in compliance with district, state, and federal regulations. Requires a Bachelor's degree and valid Texas special education teaching certification with appropriate endorsements; probationary/term contract for 187 days; ability to establish professional relationships with families and collaborate across teams.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree from accredited university
- Valid Texas teaching certificate with required special education endorsements for assignments
- Knowledge of Individual Education Plan (IEP) goal setting and meeting process and implementation
- Knowledge of how to adapt curriculum and instruction for special needs
- Effective communication skills
