Job Summary
Katy ISD seeks a 1st Grade Self Contained teacher responsible for delivering engaging, differentiated instruction aligned to district curriculum to foster intellectual, emotional, physical, and social growth. The role emphasizes planning and implementing lesson plans, using digital tools, collaboration with staff, IEP accommodations in collaboration with special education staff, consistent formative assessment and progress monitoring, effective classroom management, and involvement in extracurricular activities. The position requires ESL certification, a Texas teaching certificate with endorsements for the assigned subject/grade, student teaching or approved internship, and strong communication with parents and the school community. Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree from accredited university
- Valid Texas teaching certificate with required endorsements for subject and level assigned
- ESL certification required for K-5 RLA or self contained special education or general education classroom assignments
- ESL certification preferred for Math, Science, Social Studies teaching assignments
- Ability to instruct students and manage their behavior
- Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills
- Student teaching or approved internship
- Physically able to monitor student discipline and progress and to meet other student needs as required
- Physically able to move about the room to perform formative assessments and facilitate small and large group instruction
