Job Summary
Katy ISD is seeking a 1st Grade self-contained teacher with ESL preferred. The role requires a Texas teaching certificate with endorsements for the assigned subject/level and ESL certification for K-5 RLA or self-contained/general education classrooms. Responsibilities include designing engaging, standards-aligned lessons, differentiating instruction, implementing assessments, collaborating with staff, utilizing digital tools, supporting IEPs, and supervising extracurricular activities. The position emphasizes classroom management, communication with parents and colleagues, and ongoing professional development to support student growth and success.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree from accredited university
- Valid Texas teaching certificate with required endorsements for subject and level assigned
- ESL certification required for K-5 RLA or self contained special education or general education classroom assignments
- ESL certification preferred for Math, Science, Social Studies teaching assignments
- Ability to instruct students and manage their behavior
- Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills
- Student teaching or approved internship
- Physically able to monitor student discipline and progress and to meet other student needs as required
- Physically able to move about the room to perform formative assessments and facilitate small and large group instruction
