Job Summary
Reporting to the Legal Office Supervisor/Senior Manager of Legal Support, the Law Clerk II assists TD Insurance lawyers in handling personal injury and property-damage-related insurance matters, prepares and organizes discovery materials, undertakings, affidavits of documents, briefs for expert reviews and motions, and maintains file logistics across multiple jurisdictions. The role requires strong legal drafting, litigation knowledge, and the ability to manage multiple files, communicate effectively with insured clients and court staff, and stay current with developments in medical, scientific, and liability issues that affect cases. Responsibilities include updating electronic case systems, organizing and preparing files for discovery, drafting documents for review, and supporting lawyers with tasks as needed while delivering professional client service and a detail-oriented approach.
Required Qualifications
- Paralegal/Law Clerk diploma/certificate from a recognized educational institution
- 1-5 years paralegal/law clerk experience or equivalent
- Background in insurance defense litigation (preferred)
- Knowledge of legal and court documents and procedures
- Excellent oral and written communication
- Excellent legal drafting skills and eye for detail
- Motivated self-starter with ability to work under pressure
- Strong interpersonal & client service skills
