Job Summary
Prepare federal and state tax returns and provisions under ASC 740, analyze effective tax rates, and maintain deferred tax inventories. Streamline tax compliance processes by implementing OneSource software to improve financial reporting and reduce costs. Coordinate with Big 4 firms and third parties, draft Sarbanes-Oxley 404 control documentation, and assist in IRS and state audit responses. Conduct tax research to minimize liability, track software upgrades, and lead quarterly estimate preparations. Manage administrative and budget matters while attending relevant seminars. This rebuild effort supports the major corporation's in-house tax department following relocation to Houston.
Required Qualifications
- Experience preparing federal and state (current and deferred) tax returns and provisions in accordance with ASC 740
- Experience analyzing effective tax rate, performing reconciliation, and conducting analytical review of tax accounts
- Experience maintaining deferred taxes inventory
- Experience streamlining ASC 740 tax provision and tax compliance processes
- Experience implementing OneSource Tax Provision software and integrating it with OneSource Income Tax software
- Experience keeping abreast of latest tax software version updates and making system upgrade recommendations
- Experience drafting documentation of testing of internal controls under Sarbanes-Oxley 404
- Experience coordinating with outside Big 4 and law firms as well as other third parties
- Experience leading tax compliance efforts including preparation of quarterly estimates and extension income/franchise tax payment calculations
- Experience providing assistance in information gathering for IRS and state tax audits
- Experience conducting tax-related research to minimize company's federal and state income tax liability
- Experience with research and planning
- Experience with administrative and budget matters
- Experience attending tax seminars and conferences
