Tax Specialist

Job Summary
Prepare and review federal, state, and local tax returns with a focus on fuel-related and excise tax compliance. Research tax laws and regulations, monitor changes impacting the petroleum industry, and ensure timely filing and payment of tax obligations. Assist with tax planning initiatives, analyze financial data for tax implications, and support audits and inquiries from tax authorities. Maintain accurate tax records, collaborate with accounting and finance teams, and recommend process improvements to enhance compliance and efficiency.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Taxation, or a related field
- Professional certification (e.g., CPA, EA) is preferred but not required
- Proficiency with tax and accounting software
- Advanced Excel skills
- Strong knowledge of Tax, Tax Preparation, and Tax Planning
- Experience with federal, state, and local tax regulations; excise or fuel tax is a plus
- Ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams
- Strong attention to detail and ability to meet deadlines
Desired Qualifications
