Job Summary
Tax Senior at SingerLewak performs diversified accounting, auditing, and tax assignments under the direction of a supervisor, manager, or partner. The role directs and instructs assistants, decides the extent of test-checking for audits, prepares and indexes working papers to verify the accuracy of client matters, and prepares complicated tax returns including dissolutions or liquidations. The position suggests client tax planning ideas to supervisors/partners, prepares routine client correspondence for Partner approval, and writes comments for management letters. It also supervises staff accountants and assistants, reviewing their work and coordinating necessary revisions. Occasional overtime is required throughout the year, with heavy overtime from January 1 to April 15 (potentially exceeding 55 hours per week).
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting, or master’s degree in accounting
- Minimum of forty (40) hours of continuing professional education is required each year
- Either hold a current and valid CPA’s license or be working toward obtaining the license by taking and passing the applicable state CPA exam
- If licensed, should be a member in good standing with the AICPA
