Job Summary
Conduct top-level reviews of tax returns and resolve complex federal and state tax issues for clients. Lead research on material tax and compliance matters, applying Firm policies and ASC 740 standards to recommend strategies that minimize tax burdens and reporting costs. Supervise associates and senior associates by reviewing workpapers, providing performance feedback, and managing workloads. Act as the primary client contact for complex tax inquiries and manage expectations while presenting resolutions to clients. Develop technical expertise in specific tax specializations and lead or participate in external training sessions. Manage inquiries from tax agencies and assist with protests at the appeals level.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelors degree
- Eight (8) or more years of prior relevant tax experience
- Prior supervisory experience
- CPA certification, Attorney (admitted to practice in a U.S. jurisdiction), or Internal Revenue Service Enrolled Agent (EA)
- Superior verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to effectively delegate work as needed
- Strong analytical, research and critical thinking skills
- Decision-making skills
- Capacity to work well in a team environment
- Capable of developing and managing a team of tax professionals
- Ability to compose written tax advice
- Capable of effectively developing and maintaining client relationships
- Executive presence and ability to act as primary client contact for preparation and presentation of issues and resolutions to clients
Desired Qualifications
- Major in Accounting, Finance, Economics or Statistics
- Master's in Accountancy or Taxation
- Industry expertise in one or more tax specialty
- Proficient with the Microsoft Office Suite
- Experience with tax research databases and tax compliance process software
