Tax Senior Manager, Accounting Methods

Job Summary

Conduct research on federal tax accounting methods, including IRC 263(A), depreciation, and expense acceleration, to identify client benefits and minimize reporting burdens. Represent clients before tax authorities and respond to inquiries from federal and state agencies regarding tax accounting issues. Supervise Senior Associates and Associates, ensuring they meet quality control standards and receive performance feedback. Develop strategies to advance client positions and execute marketing plans to acquire new business. Prepare research memos, tax returns, and training materials while collaborating with partners on special projects to improve process efficiencies.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree
  • degree in Accounting, Tax, or Finance
  • Seven (7) or more years of prior Federal tax client service experience
  • Prior experience supervising tax consulting professionals
  • CPA certification, Attorney (admitted to practice in a U.S. jurisdiction), or Internal Revenue Service Enrolled Agent ('EA') (or the equivalent of one of these designations)

Desired Qualifications

  • Master's degree
  • Juris Doctorate (J.D.)
  • Prior experience with accounting methods
  • Prior experience preparing and/or reviewing tax provisions
  • Prior experience with corporate taxation, consolidations, and partnerships
  • Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office, especially Excel and Word
  • Experience with tax related software and research databases such as Caseware, GoSystems, and other comparable programs
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Superior analytical and research skills
  • Solid organizational skills, especially ability to meet project deadlines with a focus on details
  • Ability to effectively manage a team of tax professionals and delegating work assignments as needed
  • Ability to build and maintain strong relationships with firm and client personnel and the ability to successfully interact with professionals at all levels
  • Ability to cultivate a positive team environment on engagements and contribute to the professional development of team personnel
  • Executive presence and ability to act as primary contact on assigned engagements
