Job Summary
Tax Manager/Senior Manager role at KPMG within the Business Tax Services practice focusing on real estate-related taxation. Responsibilities include managing a portfolio of clients, directing tax professionals/teams, delivering high-quality tax service and advice, assessing tax impacts for clients, developing tax arguments, contributing to market activities, and for Senior Manager, managing risk, budgets, and cross-team collaboration. Requires strong real estate tax technical knowledge (partnership taxation, REITs), client relationship management, and leadership; professional credentials (CPA/EA/JD/LLM) and extensive experience in real estate tax and real estate private equity funds.
Required Qualifications
- Minimum five years of recent experience as a tax manager with a public accounting firm; must have recent partnership tax experience in the financial services industry specific to real estate and real estate private equity funds
- Bachelor's degree from an accredited college/university; Licensed CPA, EA or JD/LLM, in addition to others on KPMG's approved credential listing; any individual who does not possess at least one of the approved designations/credentials when their employment commences, has one year from their date of hire to obtain at least one of the approved designations/credentials
- Extensive real estate tax technical and transaction skills, including partnership taxation, REIT taxation and qualification, partnership allocations, tax compliance, due diligence, acquisition/disposition planning and structuring
- Experience managing engagement projects, people, and budgets
- Knowledge of business development within the market
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to articulate complex tax content; experience managing multiple client engagements and client service teams
- Minimum eight years years of recent experience as a tax manager with a public accounting firm; must have recent partnership tax experience in the financial services industry specific to real estate and real estate private equity funds
