Job Summary
Manage a collaborative team advising clients on federal energy credits and excise tax provisions under the Inflation Reduction Act. Conduct technical reviews of credit computations, workpapers, and tax opinions to ensure accuracy and efficiency. Lead internal meetings, coordinate projects with clients, and support controversy matters with taxing authorities. Analyze audit risks, materiality issues, and credit utilization limitations to discuss solutions and implications with project leaders. Develop client service plans to position the firm as a first-choice advisor for clean energy projects. Requires a Bachelor's degree, active CPA or Enrolled Agent license, and five years of tax experience. Compensation ranges from $100,000 to $189,200 plus discretionary bonus.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting or related field from an accredited university
- active CPA license in the state of residence or primary office
- active Enrolled Agent (EA) license
- active Attorney license
- pre‐approved alternative certification that meets RSM requirements
- Minimum five years of Tax experience
- Strong computer skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Excel
- Demonstrates the ability to meet client service, quality, and performance expectations within applicable deadlines and in accordance with firm and client standards
- Communicates clearly, professionally, and effectively with firm personnel and clients in person, by telephone, and through electronic or written means
- Demonstrates effective project management skills, including the ability to manage multiple priorities, tasks, and projects simultaneously, meet deadlines, and maintain accuracy and quality of work in a fast-paced, client service environment
- Works effectively in a professional office environment and, as required by the role, at client sites, including the ability to sit for extended periods and work at a computer and other standard office equipment
- Maintains a consistent onsite presence during core business hours, regularly reporting to a firm office location and traveling to client sites as required, including access to reliable transportation
- Demonstrates flexibility to work extended and/or non-standard hours during peak periods or as necessary to meet client, project, or firm business needs
Desired Qualifications
- Background in energy industry
- Masters in Taxation or LL.M (Taxation)
- Project Management Professional Certification
- Experience working with federal tax credits, especially energy and excise taxes and clean energy credits
