Job Summary
Tax Manager, Core Tax Services is responsible for advising clients on the tax implications of business objectives, evaluating and selecting methods to minimize tax burden and cost of compliance, and serving as the primary client contact for complex tax issues. The role involves applying knowledge to identify potential tax issues and communicate risks, participating in marketing, networking, and business development within a tax specialization, and providing written tax advice. Primary duties include tax compliance oversight (ensuring client and team adherence to policies and the TQM), leading planning and review of tax processes with budgeting and staffing, managing time and billing, and maintaining client relationships; tax research and analysis using firm standards (ASC 740/FAS 109/FIN 48), involving firm specialists as appropriate; explaining components of the income tax provision to clients, coordinating with Assurance for timely plan and delivery, and utilizing tools like WTA and various tax software; developing and implementing efficient tax strategies to maximize client benefits, coordinating internal training, and supervising and mentoring associates and seniors; and contributing to strategy development to reduce taxes or expenses while maintaining high-quality client service and executive presence for client discussions.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics or Statistics (required)
- CPA certification, Attorney admitted in US jurisdiction, or Enrolled Agent (EA) (required)
- Five (5) or more years of prior relevant tax experience and/or public accounting, private industry accounting or consulting/professional services experience (required)
- Prior supervisory experience (required)
- Strong verbal and written communication skills (required)
- Ability to delegate work effectively (required)
- Capacity to work well in a team environment (required)
- Executive presence and ability to act as primary client contact (required)
