Job Summary
Tax Manager leads a dynamic team to prepare and sign client tax returns across corporation, partnership, individual, and trust returns, oversees tax initiatives and planning, and ensures timely, compliant filings while maintaining client relationships. The role mentors staff, collaborates with Partners, may participate in client meetings, and performs duties including reviewing returns, coordinating with government agencies, guiding tax staff on software questions, supporting audits, and meeting deadlines. Key skills include deep knowledge of tax concepts and multi-state tax considerations, familiarity with tax software (Lacerte, CCH Axcess/ProSystem), strong analytical and research abilities, attention to detail, and proficiency with Microsoft Office. The position requires extended hours as needed and entails leadership responsibilities within a public accounting/family office tax practice.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or related business field (3.0 GPA or better)
- Certified Public Accountant or Enrolled Agent is preferred
- 5+ years of experience leading a team of tax professionals
- 7+ years of related tax experience at a public accounting firm/or family office
- In-depth knowledge of tax concepts and regulations related to individuals, C corporations, S corporations, partnerships, estates, and trusts
- Strong working knowledge of tax return workflow and ability to adapt
- Ability to identify, analyze and resolve issues, perform research, and demonstrate critical thinking to implement tax advice related to new legislation and planning
- Ability to pay attention to detail, have excellent organization skills and ability to perform under deadlines
- Proficiency with Lacerte and CCH Axcess/ProSystem
- Understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles
- Competency in Microsoft applications including Word, Excel and Outlook
