Tax Lead (Crypto)

Job Summary
Tax Lead (Crypto) at a remote-first, US/Canada–based team. Lead crypto tax compliance and operational workflows for funds holding crypto investments; review and reconcile crypto transactions across wallets, exchanges, custodians, and internal systems; analyze tax implications of staking, token swaps, NFTs, stablecoins, and internal transfers; maintain transaction-level workpapers and documentation; drive process improvements and mentor junior Associates. Requires 5+ years of tax experience, a Bachelor’s in Accounting/Finance, strong knowledge of federal/state tax concepts, crypto transaction experience, and CPA/EA/Attorney eligibility or progression.
Required Qualifications
- Five (5) or more years of relevant tax experience and/or public accounting, private industry accounting, or consulting/professional services experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
- Working knowledge of federal and state tax concepts and reporting requirements
- Experience working with crypto transactions, wallets, exchanges, and digital asset reporting workflows
- Familiarity with crypto-related tax reporting concepts, including staking, SAFTs, warrants, token transfers, liquidity activity, and digital asset basis tracking
- Experience researching and analyzing complex tax and transaction issues
- Ability to identify issues, investigate discrepancies, and propose solutions independently
- Clear written and verbal communication skills
- CPA certification, Attorney (admitted to practice in a U.S. jurisdiction), or Internal Revenue Service Enrolled Agent (“EA”) (or the equivalent of one of these designations), required or working towards
