Job Summary
Seasonal Tax Expert – Retail On-Site at a TurboTax location in the United States. On-site in Downers Grove, IL, you will represent TurboTax locally, engage new prospects, and convert leads into long-term clients through proactive outreach and local events. Deliver hands-on tax preparation and advice for TurboTax clients, handling simple to complex tax situations using TurboTax software, and provide in-person and virtual service. Build trust with customers, create a positive financial impact for clients, and contribute to community presence through local marketing efforts and events while leveraging company resources. The role combines tax expertise with customer-facing entrepreneurship, community engagement, and the use of CRM/sales tools to grow a local client base. Preference for bilingual (English/Spanish) communication and experience beyond basic tax filing.
Required Qualifications
- Active credential: EA, CPA, or Practicing Attorney with strong tax preparation experience
- Preparer Tax Identification Number (PTIN) required by law
- Minimum 3 years of paid experience filing 50+ federal/state individual 1040 tax returns per tax season
- Familiarity with Circular 230
- Must reside within the United States
- Full availability for a flexible 25–34 hour weekly schedule, including afternoons, evenings, and weekends, with potential for increased hours during peak seasons
- Ability to work in a collaborative team setting and adapt to evolving/ambiguous environments
- Ability to build a local and online social presence in accordance with company policies
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Proficiency with tax preparation software and CRM/sales tools
- Entrepreneurial mindset to grow customer portfolio
- Bilingual skills a plus (English/Spanish)
