Job Summary
Tax Examiner (On-Site) responsible for conducting tax and regulatory reviews for clients, examining taxpayer records for compliance, researching tax laws, and preparing documentation to support adjustments. Responsibilities include meeting with taxpayers and representatives, discussing exam procedures and findings, explaining applicable law and rulings, performing preliminary data reviews, and participating in closing conferences. Requires strong accounting knowledge, analytical skills, ability to communicate clearly with taxpayers and colleagues, and willingness to travel as needed. On-site role based in Houston, TX with a focus on state and local tax examinations and related regulatory duties.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting (preferred; required for Alabama tax assignments)
- Minimum of 18 credit hours in accounting
- CPA certification preferred (CRE/CTE may be required depending on assignment)
- Knowledge of state and local tax knowledge or experience preferred
- Professional background including accounting/finance experience preferred
- Strong analytical, communication, and interpersonal skills
- Proficiency with Accounting Systems and Microsoft Office
