Job Summary
Lead tax compliance for a publicly traded REIT by managing, evaluating, and structuring transactions to maintain REIT qualification. Prepare and review quarterly and annual REIT testing, federal and multi-state returns, and Schedule K-1s for tiered structures and operating partnerships. Oversee external tax advisors, coordinate composite filings, and respond to audits and information requests. Partner with accounting, legal, and investment teams to ensure accurate reporting data. Ensure timely filing of extensions, estimated payments, and corporate returns within a high-volume environment.
Required Qualifications
- 8–10+ years of tax experience within public accounting and/or private industry, with emphasis on REIT and partnership tax compliance
- Strong technical knowledge of REIT qualification rules and partnership taxation
- Experience with multi-state tax filings and apportionment
- CPA preferred
Desired Qualifications
- Combination of Big 4/public accounting and real estate industry experience strongly preferred
- Strong Excel and tax compliance software experience
- Detail-oriented with strong review capabilities
- Organized and deadline-driven in a high-volume compliance environment
