Job Summary
Tax Compliance Specialist – International will own day-to-day tax compliance activities across multiple jurisdictions, including preparing tax calculations, declarations, and supporting schedules for corporate income tax, provisional taxes, VAT/GST, sales tax, withholding taxes, and payroll taxes where applicable. The role involves collecting financial data from accounting systems, performing data processing and reconciliations, ensuring documentation supports compliance outputs, maintaining audit-ready records under the organization’s Tax Governance Framework, and coordinating with external tax advisors. You will support the Tax Compliance Manager, help manage compliance calendars and deliverables, and contribute to governance, risk management, and regulatory compliance in a multinational, listed-company environment across Europe, UK, NZ, Canada, and the Middle East. Requires a Bachelor’s degree in finance or accounting (Honours/Master’s in Tax advantageous), professional qualification (CA(SA), CPA, CTA or equivalent), and at least 5 years of tax compliance experience; IFRS (IAS 12) knowledge and OECD/BEPS familiarity are essential. Strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work across multiple jurisdictions are needed. The role is based in Cape Town, South Africa, with a focus on international tax processes and collaboration with cross-functional teams.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in finance or accounting
- Honours degree in Tax / Master’s degree in Tax will be advantageous
- Professional qualification CA(SA), CPA, CTA, or equivalent
- 5+ years’ experience in tax compliance, tax accounting and tax reporting
- Experience in a multinational and/or listed company environment including jurisdiction across Europe, UK, NZ, Canada and Middle East
- Strong knowledge of tax legislation and principles, OECD guidelines and BEPS initiatives
- Strong knowledge of tax accounting and reporting in line with IFRS (IAS 12)
- Ability to operate in a complex, multi-jurisdictional environment
- Strong analytical, governance, and risk management capability
- Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and Word
- Desirable: familiarity with accounting/reporting software (Business Central/Navision, TM1) and tax software (Thomson Reuters Orbitax/OTP)
- SOX knowledge
- Commitment to integrity and professional judgment
