Job Summary

Tax Compliance Manager for Rest of Africa oversees delivery of tax compliance across assigned jurisdictions, including reviewing corporate income tax, gaming taxes, indirect taxes (VAT/GST, sales tax), withholding and payroll taxes; ensures filings are accurate, timely, and aligned with group policies; maintains tax calendars, coordinates with local finance teams and external advisors, supports tax audits and authority queries, and contributes to tax governance and reporting in a multinational, NYSE-listed environment. The role requires leading a compliance function, data collection and validation for tax filings, application of the group Tax Governance Framework, and identification of data issues and control gaps. Strong collaboration across cross-functional teams, deep knowledge of IFRS IAS 12, OECD BEPS guidelines, Pillar Two, and multi-jurisdictional tax compliance is essential. The position emphasizes integrity, strategic thinking, regulatory monitoring, and opportunities to improve processes and data quality within a high-growth, global gaming group.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Finance or Accounting
  • Honours degree in Tax or Masters degree in Tax
  • Professional qualification (CA(SA), CPA, CTA, or equivalent)
  • 8+ years’ experience in tax compliance across various jurisdictions
  • 5+ years’ experience in tax compliance management leading teams of more than three team members
  • Experience in a multinational and/or listed company environment, specifically in African countries (Botswana, Rwanda, Kenya, Nigeria, Zambia, Malawi, Ghana, Mozambique, Tanzania, Cameroon, Uganda, Namibia)
  • Strong knowledge of tax legislation and principles, OECD guidelines and BEPS initiatives, including Pillar Two
  • Strong knowledge of tax accounting and reporting in line with IFRS (IAS 12)
  • Strong leadership and stakeholder engagement
  • Ability to operate in a complex, multi-jurisdictional environment
  • High analytical, governance, and risk management capability
  • Integrity and professional judgment
  • Desirable skills: accounting/reporting software (Business Central/Navision, TM1) and tax software (Thomson Reuters Orbitax/OTP)
  • SOX knowledge
