Job Summary
Prepare federal and Virginia state tax returns for individuals, corporations, partnerships, and trusts. Assist with tax extensions, estimated payments, and projections while conducting basic research on Virginia and multistate issues using tools like CCH or BNA. Support clients during IRS and Virginia Franchise Tax Board audits or correspondence, maintaining organized documentation and workpapers. Stay current on federal and state law changes and utilize tax preparation software such as Proconnect to process returns efficiently. Join a fast-paced, deadline-driven team working alongside experienced CPAs to provide comprehensive tax solutions for diverse clients.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
- CPA-eligible or actively pursuing CPA licensure in Virginia
- Understanding of federal and Virginia state tax regulations
- Strong attention to detail and time management skills
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (especially Excel)
Desired Qualifications
- Internship or 1+ year of experience in public accounting or tax preparation
- Familiarity with Virginia tax issues (FTB, CDTFA, or multistate filings)
- Experience with tax software such as Lacerte
