Job Summary
Private Client Tax Associate sought to support fiduciary tax services for sophisticated families and their trusts in DC or Baltimore. Responsibilities include organizing and evaluating tax return data for family limited partnerships, trusts and private foundations; preparing reconciliations for tax and financial information for third-party accountants; analyzing capital accounts and allocations within multi-tiered partnerships; coordinating with outside tax accountants to review fiduciary federal/state tax returns for non-grantor trusts and private foundations; reviewing partnership K-1s and trust-related tax letters; ensuring timely filing of returns and payments; maintaining correspondence with IRS and state authorities; coordinating with private client advisors and custodians to achieve optimal reporting and client service; researching and proposing tax-efficient strategies; updating knowledge on tax law changes; participating in special projects; and possessing strong communication skills to interact with CPAs and attorneys. Qualifications include 2-4 years tax experience, Bachelor's degree, CPA license or progress toward licensure, and proficiency in tax research and partnerships/trust instruments. Required Qualifications
- Two to four (2-4) years of tax experience in public accounting, a family office or with a financial institution’s private client business
- Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance or another related program
- CPA license or significant progress towards licensure (2+ passed sections of the CPA Exam) required
- Exposure to capital account reconciliations and allocation tracking for complex, multi-tiered partnerships
- Experience analyzing and researching partnership operating agreements
- Familiarity with reviewing and researching trust instruments a plus
- Strong accounting and analytical skills
- Proficiency with tax research
- Excellent interpersonal, oral and written communication skills
- Ability to work in an office location
