Job Summary
Tax Assistant supports corporate tax activities with a focus on Canadian PST/HST/QST and US sales and use tax compliance, filings, audits, and maintaining comprehensive tax records. The role requires a Bachelor’s degree in accounting/finance/economics/taxation, proficiency in MS Office (especially Excel), strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, excellent written and verbal communication, and the ability to work autonomously under tight deadlines. The position emphasizes accuracy in tax data, collaboration with team members, and ongoing tax research and regulatory compliance.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in relevant subject (accounting, finance, economics, taxation)
- Work experience in taxation role (co-op considered a plus)
- Competency with MS Office including Excel
- Ability to apply financial statements and non-tax financial information to tax work
- Strong organizational and time management skills
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Demonstrated analytical/problem solving ability
- Self-motivated with personal development
- Team player willing to support colleagues
