Job Summary
Review each client's tax situation, identify opportunities, and provide personalized recommendations while ensuring every filing meets IRS regulations and H&R Block standards. Present complex concepts in straightforward language, deliver forward-looking advice on financial goals, and support tax notices or audit inquiries. Maintain accuracy through validation of technology-generated returns and stay current with evolving tax laws and internal tools. Earn client loyalty through empathy and consistent follow-through to build lasting relationships. This seasonal, in-person role requires a minimum of two years in tax preparation and successful completion of the Tax Knowledge Assessment.
Required Qualifications
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in tax preparation, accounting, finance, or bookkeeping, including individual and small business returns
- Successful completion of the H&R Block Tax Knowledge Assessment
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, including the ability to explain tax concepts in client-friendly language
- Ability to collaborate within a team environment to deliver a seamless client experience
- Must complete continuing education and meet all IRS and applicable state requirements
- High school diploma / GED / equivalent required
Desired Qualifications
- CPA, Enrolled Agent (EA), or other IRS Circular 230 credential
- 5+ years of experience in tax preparation, accounting, or financial services, including complex returns, tax planning, audit support, and tax notice resolution
- Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or a related field
- Experience in a consultative or advisory client relationship role (financial advising, insurance, or professional services)
- Familiarity with AI-powered tools (e.g., Microsoft Copilot, ChatGPT)
- Familiarity with tax preparation software such as GoSystem or UltraTax
