Job Summary
Review each client's tax situation, identify opportunities, and provide personalized recommendations to ensure return accuracy and IRS compliance. Present complex concepts in straightforward language, offer proactive tax planning guidance, and define financial goals while identifying relevant products. Validate every filing against regulations, support tax notices and audit inquiries, and maintain current expertise through ongoing education and H&R Block tools. Build lasting client relationships through empathy and consistent follow-through to foster loyalty and repeat engagement. This seasonal, in-person role requires a Tax Knowledge Assessment and 2+ years of tax preparation experience.
Required Qualifications
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in tax preparation, accounting, finance, or bookkeeping, including individual and small business returns
- Successful completion of the H&R Block Tax Knowledge Assessment
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, including the ability to explain tax concepts in client-friendly language
- Ability to collaborate within a team environment to deliver a seamless client experience
- Must complete continuing education and meet all IRS and applicable state requirements
- High school diploma / GED / equivalent required
Desired Qualifications
- CPA, Enrolled Agent (EA), or other IRS Circular 230 credential
- 5+ years of experience in tax preparation, accounting, or financial services, including complex returns, tax planning, audit support, and tax notice resolution
- Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or a related field
- Experience in a consultative or advisory client relationship role (financial advising, insurance, or professional services)
- Familiarity with AI-powered tools (e.g., Microsoft Copilot, ChatGPT)
- Familiarity with tax preparation software such as GoSystem or UltraTax
