Job Summary
Review client tax situations, identify opportunities, and provide personalized recommendations to build trust. Translate complex tax concepts into straightforward language while ensuring every filing meets IRS regulations and H&R Block standards. Deliver forward-looking advice by helping clients define financial goals and identifying relevant products and services. Stay current with evolving tax regulations and leverage internal tools to support audit inquiries and tax notices. Earn client loyalty through empathy and consistent follow-through to create a seamless experience. This seasonal, in-person role offers competitive hourly pay and incentives.
Required Qualifications
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in tax preparation, accounting, finance, or bookkeeping, including individual and small business returns
- Successful completion of the H&R Block Tax Knowledge Assessment
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, including the ability to explain tax concepts in client-friendly language
- Ability to collaborate within a team environment to deliver a seamless client experience
- Must complete continuing education and meet all IRS and applicable state requirements
- High school diploma / GED / equivalent required
Desired Qualifications
- CPA, Enrolled Agent (EA), or other IRS Circular 230 credential
- 5+ years of experience in tax preparation, accounting, or financial services, including complex returns, tax planning, audit support, and tax notice resolution
- Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or a related field
- Experience in a consultative or advisory client relationship role (financial advising, insurance, or professional services)
- Familiarity with AI-powered tools (e.g., Microsoft Copilot, ChatGPT)
- Familiarity with tax preparation software such as GoSystem or UltraTax
