Job Summary
Tax Expert – Retail On-Site at a TurboTax location in Jersey City, NJ, on a seasonal basis. Provide hands-on tax preparation, tax advice, and software support to TurboTax clients both in-person and virtually. Act as a local community ambassador, lead outreach and events, and leverage TurboTax marketing resources to grow a local client base while delivering an exceptional customer experience. Role requires active credential (EA/CPA/Attorney with PTIN), 3+ years of returns filed, familiarity with Circular 230, and a flexible 25–34 hour weekly schedule including evenings and weekends. Must reside in the United States and be able to obtain any required state licenses. Bilingual English/Spanish a plus and comfort building a local and online presence for the community.
Required Qualifications
- Active, unrestricted credential: EA, CPA, or Practicing Attorney with strong tax preparation experience and active PTIN
- Active PTIN as required by law to file taxes
- Minimum of 3 years of paid experience filing 50 or more federal and state individual 1040 tax returns per tax season using professional tax preparation software
- Familiarity with Circular 230
- Must reside within the United States
- Full availability for a flexible 25b34 hour weekly schedule, including afternoons, evenings, and weekends, with ability to increase hours during peak seasons
- Entrepreneurial and self-driven with a business ownership mindset to grow your customer portfolio
- Bilingual (English/Spanish) communication skills are a plus
- Experience in holistic tax advisory services beyond tax filing
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment independently while managing multiple priorities
- Proficient with technology, including tax preparation software and CRM/sales tools
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Excellent customer service and relationship-building abilities
- Willingness to engage with the local community and build TurboTax presence
