Job Summary
Tausug Distance Learning Associate Language Instructor will provide live virtual instruction to develop foreign language proficiency across listening, reading, and speaking, and deliver regional/cultural content using modern blended-learning methods. Responsibilities include creating lesson plans, delivering instruction based on designated POI, assessing and adapting lessons for ILR levels 0+ to 3, reviewing and grading assignments, and maintaining a positive virtual classroom environment. The role requires collaboration with Site Lead, POI analyst, or Language Instructional Developer to address curriculum gaps, and adherence to GOVT-approved materials for instruction. Remote work is supported in a Joint Base Lewis-McChord, WA setting.
Required Qualifications
- Experience delivering virtual foreign language instruction
- Ability to develop lesson plans and instruction based on ILR levels (0+ - 3)
- Familiarity with Defense Language Proficiency Test (DLPT), ACTFL, and Oral Proficiency Interview (OPI)
- Ability to assess student performance, review and grade assignments, and provide feedback
- Ability to maintain a positive and professional virtual learning environment (telephonic, chat, and online)
- Ability to collaborate with Site Lead, POI analyst, or Language Instructional Developer to address curriculum gaps
- Proficiency in using designated materials approved by GOVT to support instruction
- Ability to adapt instruction based on student interests and levels
- Excellent communication and classroom management in virtual settings
