Job Summary
Oversee daily Engineering Department operations, ensuring all building systems and equipment function efficiently and safely. Develop and manage preventative maintenance programs for guest rooms, public areas, mechanical systems, and hotel infrastructure. Lead, train, and coach engineering team members while maintaining staffing levels and performance standards. Manage maintenance requests and work order systems to ensure timely resolution of guest and operational issues. Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal regulations including life safety, environmental, OSHA, and building codes. Develop and manage departmental operating and capital budgets while controlling costs. Plan, coordinate, and oversee renovation projects, capital improvements, and major repairs. Maintain strong relationships with contractors, vendors, and service providers to ensure quality work and cost-effective solutions. Conduct regular property inspections to identify maintenance needs, safety concerns, and operational improvements. Monitor utility consumption and implement energy management initiatives. Respond to emergency situations and provide leadership during facility-related incidents. Maintain accurate records, reports, and documentation related to engineering operations and compliance. Stay informed on industry trends and best practices to recommend improvements. Meet departmental goals and performance objectives as established by hotel leadership.
Required Qualifications
- Proven track record in engineering and facilities management within a hotel, resort, or similar environment
- Strong leadership, problem-solving, and team-building abilities
- Ability to manage multiple priorities while maintaining exceptional service standards and operational excellence
- Knowledge of local, state, and federal regulations including life safety, environmental, OSHA, and building code requirements
- Experience managing departmental operating and capital budgets
- Experience managing contractors, vendors, and service providers
- Ability to conduct regular inspections of property to identify maintenance needs, safety concerns, and opportunities for operational improvements
- Ability to monitor utility consumption and implement energy management initiatives
- Ability to respond to emergency situations and provide leadership during facility-related incidents or system failures
- Ability to maintain accurate records, reports, permits, and documentation related to engineering operations and compliance requirements
- Ability to stay informed on industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices
