Job Summary
Target Fabrication Production Manager at LLNL leads the target fabrication production team responsible for timely production of 300+ NIF targets and 900+ Omega targets per year, develops and maintains high-level schedules with the master scheduler, ensures on-time delivery, manages production resources, tracks production metrics, facilitates process improvements, and collaborates with engineering and program partners. The role includes overseeing training and hiring for assemblers, coordinating with facility managers, leading cross-location assembly efforts, and providing strategic leadership for long-range planning within the Target Fabrication Program under NIF&PS.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelors degree in Science or Engineering or the equivalent combination of education and previous relevant experience
- Masters degree in Science or Engineering or the equivalent combination of education and previous relevant experience
- Significant experience interacting, directing, leading, and advising all levels of technical staff, managers, and vendors including oversight of project schedules and resources
- Ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. DOE Q-level security clearance which requires U.S. citizenship
- Extensive experience with goal orientation and methodical use of strategies to meet production deadlines, identify issues, and make recommendations for process improvements
- Bachelors degree or Masters degree (as stated)
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Experience leading, directing, and advising cross-functional teams
- U.S. citizenship
- Ability to multitask and manage multiple operations simultaneously
- Experience with scheduling and resource planning
