Job Summary
Perform welding and grinding functions per job specifications, selecting equipment and planning layout and assembly of welding. Assembles and fits structural, plate, and mechanical materials to drawing dimensions, then efficiently produce quality welds using various positions and metallurgy. Assist with fit-up, preparation, post weld cleanup, inspection, and repair while communicating regularly with the Field Foreman regarding issues. Work up to a 12-hour shift in varying temperature extremes, lifting heavy items up to 45 pounds and navigating confined spaces.
Required Qualifications
- at least 3 years of prior tank welding/fitting experience
- ability to communicate effectively and accurately with employees and customers
- ability to successfully pass required Weld Testing FCAW as determined by CWI/Quality Assurance
- ability to successfully complete all required pre-hire requirements
- ability to lift and carry heavy items weighing up to 45 pounds
- ability to move in and around confined and cluttered places, and uneven areas
- full range of motion and flexibility consistent with age
- ability to work up to a 12-hour shift in varying temperature extremes and other outside conditions
- ability to climb and maintain balance on steel framework, stairs, ladders, and scaffolds
- PPE footwear
- prescription safety glasses or eye shields
- soft welding hoods are not permitted
