TANF Case Manager

Job Summary
Conduct interviews with TANF applicants to gather financial and demographic information via telephone and face-to-face. Verify client data, obtain proper documentation, and maintain up-to-date case files. Assess client situations to develop, implement, and evaluate service plans, while identifying community resources for referrals. Perform monthly home visits as needed and administer random urinalysis to active clients. Enter all client files and activities into the Data Bank (TAS) computer systems accurately and on time. Provide supportive case services, including transporting clients and counseling sanctioned clientele, while advocating for federally enrolled tribal clients. Complete all required TANF reports and adhere to established timelines and guidelines.
Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED
- Associate Degree in Human Services or related field with one year case work experience
- Twenty-four semester hours of college coursework with a Human Services focus or related field
- Two years relevant experience in customer service, determining eligibility for public assistance, processing financial loan applications or medical/unemployment claims, unemployment services, or any combination of experience in the above areas
- Valid driver's license
- Valid insurance
- Insurable under the Tribe's policy
- Experience working with Native Americans
- Excellent customer service skills
- Good listening skills
- Keyboarding skills for data entry
- Computer literacy and proficiency in Microsoft Office (particularly Word, Excel, Outlook)
- Trustworthiness
- Ability to make timely decisions
- Ability to prioritize work
- Knowledge of Federal, State, and Tribal Law on abuse and neglect of individuals
- Knowledge of Confidentiality Laws and Regulations
