Job Summary
Tamil Distance Learning Associate Language Instructor provides virtual Tamil instruction to improve proficiency across Listening, Reading, and Speaking (ILR 3/3/3 or equivalent) and to teach regional culture using blended-learning methodologies. Responsibilities include developing lesson plans and materials, assessing student work, delivering instruction across ILR levels 0+ to 3, maintaining a professional virtual learning environment, addressing student behavior/attendance with Managers, and collaborating with Managers/Coordinators on curriculum gaps. Requires US citizenship, native/near-native proficiency in Tamil, virtual-language-instruction experience, understanding of Tamil-speaking region culture, ability to tailor blended lessons, and access to computer equipment and high-speed internet. English qualifications include ILR 2+ or equivalent (TOEFL/TOEFL iBT 83+, ECL 82+, or ACTFL OPI), with target language qualifications of ILR 2+ or ACTFL Advanced-High via OPI, ACTFL-certified interview, or DLPT. Desired qualifications include experience with online platforms (CL-150, Adobe Connect, Canvas, Moodle) and experience teaching adult learners; Bachelor’s Degree.

- Educated native speaker or near-native capability in listening, reading, and speaking with ILR 3/3/3 or equivalent
- Experience providing foreign language instruction via virtual environment
- Understanding of cultural, social, and political environment of the foreign language region
- Experience creating blended learning lessons and tailoring materials to customer needs
