Job Summary
Deliver one-to-one instruction in our East Vancouver Learning Centre, both in-person and live online, creating a neuroaffirming, strengths-based environment for learners from kindergarten to grade 12. Identify learner strengths and challenges through assessment, then draw from multiple resources to develop and implement individualized year-long and daily lesson plans linked to measurable goals. Provide formal and informal written progress reports, utilizing assistive technology as needed. Contract instructors work part-time between 6 and 20 hours per week, with available slots on Fridays and Saturdays. Start dates align with the 2026-27 or 2027-28 school year. This role supports Learn. Develop. Succeed's mission to transform individualized instruction for over 1,250 children, youth, and adults with learning differences across Canada.
Required Qualifications
- Experience working with school-aged children with diagnosed or suspected learning differences
- Experience in strengths-based, neuroaffirming learning environments and/or a demonstrated eagerness and ability to quickly adapt to this type of environment
- Experience using structured, systematic, and explicit instructional approaches
- Experience teaching the following: literacy concepts using a structured literacy/Science of Reading approach
- Experience teaching the following: math focused on building conceptual understanding
- Experience teaching the following: support for executive functioning, sensory processing, or social-emotional learning
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, with or without the use of assistive technology
- Excellent interpersonal skills and a collaborative mindset
- Demonstrated commitment to our charitable mission
- Self-motivated and self-directed
- Ability to provide a criminal record check with vulnerable sector screening
- Eligibility to work in Canada
- Availability for online sessions
- Availability for in-person sessions
- Availability from September 2026 to June 2027, without disruption
- Ability to work between 6 and 20 hours per week
- Ability to work Fridays 3:30pm to 6:30pm
- Ability to work Saturdays 9:00am to 5:00pm
- Ability to work other weekdays from 3:30-6:30pm as applicable based on capacity
- Ability to work at the East Vancouver Learning Centre - 3292 E Broadway, Vancouver, BC
- Ability to work at the North Vancouver Learning Centre – 315 - 1277 Lynn Valley Road, North Vancouver, BC
- Ability to work at a combination of both locations
- Ability to work with minimal to moderate support
