Job Summary

Takeoff Engineer in our Preconstruction Team will conduct pre-bid document reviews, use take-off software to generate accurate project take-offs, double-check estimates, create and maintain estimating logs, request and verify quotes from suppliers, track and update customer and supplier information, assist estimators in the bid process, deliver bids and other time-sensitive documents, review purchase orders and change orders, and communicate with general contractors, owners, suppliers, and team members. The role requires a Bachelor’s degree in Applied Science/Engineering or related field, strong math and analytical skills, ability to read plans/specs, proficiency with MS Word/Excel (and take-off tools such as Bluebeam), and excellent communication. Travel to jobsites and meetings may be required. This position emphasizes safety, precision, and growth within a collaborative team.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Applied Science, Engineering or related field, or an equivalent combination of academic and work experience in the construction industry.
  • Working knowledge of commercial construction processes and costs
  • Ability to read, understand, and navigate construction blueprints, plans, and project specifications
  • Ability to multi-task, meet strict deadlines, and manage time and priorities effectively
  • Strong interpersonal and communication (written and verbal) skills
  • Ability to interact effectively and professionally with all levels of employees, vendors, clients, and other trade partners
  • Strong math and analytical skills
  • Highly organized and detail-orientated
  • Team-oriented
  • Proficient in MS Word, Excel, and other computer applications
