Job Summary
Construct, dismantle, maintain, operate, patrol and repair energized and de-energized overhead and underground transmission and distribution lines and all associated equipment to serve and maintain electric service. Install, tension, tie in and remove conductors; install, frame and climb poles and structures; operate basket trucks, digger trucks, trenchers, backhoes and other construction equipment; restore service after weather or equipment issues; install and maintain street and security lighting; operate hydraulic tools and systems; install underground electrical equipment including cable, switchgear, terminations; uphold safety and construction standards; CPR and First Aid; report for duty fit for work; may require herbicide certification; subject to DOT drug and alcohol testing; may need Class A CDL.
Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- Equivalent to four-year formal apprenticeship training such as the I.B.E.W. Lineman Apprenticeship Course
- Journeyman lineman certificate or equivalent
- CPR and First Aid
- May be required to be certified to apply herbicides
- DOT drug and alcohol testing requirements under 49 CFR Part 40 and FMCSA regulations (Part 382)
- Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: mechanical skills, ability to work in a team setting, effective communication, courteous and tactful with the public
- Ability to work irregular hours during storm emergencies and as needed
- Class A CDL knowledge/skills
