Job Summary
Special Education Life Skills Paraeducator supports assigned teaching personnel in supervising and instructing students, adapts classroom work to reinforce lesson plans, and assists with daily living skills and personal care. Responsibilities include maintaining files/records, data collection, supervising students in various settings, and clerical tasks such as scheduling and copying. Requires ability to lift and assist with students, participate in safety procedures, and be present regularly. Position is part-time (5.75 hours/day, 180 days/year) in Weber School District, Washington Terrace, Utah, with funding contingent on future allocations. Mandt training and readiness to work with students with special needs and potential bio-hazard cleaning tasks are noted.
Required Qualifications
- Assists in supervising and instructing students
- Performs classroom clerical tasks
- Assists with daily living skills and personal care needs
- Able to lift up to 60 lbs occasionally and up to 25 lbs frequently
- Willing to participate in MANDT training
- Able to walk with students to bus stops in inclement weather
- Regular attendance is critical
- Safely manage physical or verbally aggressive students
- Participate in activities to support students’ academic and behavioral skills
- Adapts classroom work under teacher direction
