Job Summary
Professional and technical work in the installation and support of IBM z/OS mainframe systems software. Incumbent will plan, schedule, test, install and support operating system software and other proprietary products in the Department of Financial Services Data Center, assist with design and operation of statewide online and batch applications, diagnose software problems, monitor performance, and coordinate with hardware/software vendors. The role requires on-call availability or outside-hours work, on-site presence in Tallahassee, and strong documentation and collaboration skills.
Required Qualifications
- Two (2) years of professional work experience or a postsecondary degree/technical school completion may be used as an alternative
- Five (5) years of z/OS systems programming experience
- Experience with installation and support of mainframe vendor software
- Experience working within the z/OS operating system environment, systems programming concepts and z/OS JCL
- Software diagnosis and correction
- Experience with IBM mainframe platform areas including third-party software installation for Software AG, Treehouse, IBI products
- Security Management
- Systems Backup
- Performance Monitoring and Capacity Planning
- Disaster Recovery
- Willing to be on call or work outside of normal working hours
- Experience with installation and support of IBI software including IWAY and WebFocus and others
- Ability to communicate effectively on a technical level
- Ability to read and comprehend technical manuals and documentation
- Ability to independently create clear and relevant technical documentation and procedures
- Ability to plan, organize and coordinate work assignments
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with others
